Embryo calendar competition

Anglers see some amazing sights whilst out on the bank, and now you have the chance to win a fantastic prize simply by capturing one of these magic moments with your camera.

The 2017 Embryo Angling calendar was a huge success, raising enough money to protect the fish stocks of two venues from otter predation by installing fencing, and this year we are giving you the chance to get one of your own images featured within it!

The calendar consists of twelve stunning images – one for each month of the year – and the 2018 version will be made up from photos submitted to this competition. If your photo is chosen, not only will you see your image featured within the calendar and be credited for it, but you will also win yourself a fantastic prize package worth £1,350, along with a framed picture.

Each of the twelve winners will receive a week fishing at Gigantica, worth £600; a place on one of the Embryo Angling syndicate lakes for a full year, worth £250; £250 of your choice of Korda kit; Mainline Bait worth £250; a framed picture of your photo; plus a credit on the calendar.

Embryo Angling founder Danny Fairbrass, who is one of the judges for the competition along with Tom Dove and James Turner, enthused: “Last year the Embryo Angling calendar raised approximately £16,000 and this will go towards fencing two medium size venues this year – including Clifton Hampden and District Piscatorial Society’s Dorchester Lake, plus another water which is used by disabled anglers. Those who purchased the calendar this year have helped to save the life of a carp,” he added.

To enter, all you have to do is submit a photo that you have taken and specify which month you are entering it for – the content should be appropriate for the time of year, e.g. December: sunrise on a frosty morning.

The subject matter of your photos can be anything relating to your time out on the bank, be it a catch shot/nature/scenic/action shot/carp in their environment/silhouette. You can enter up to six shots in total across any month and on any subject matter. It is open to anyone in Europe and your shots don’t necessarily have to have been taken in the UK.

All photos submitted must be in: landscape format (6×4 aspect ratio); 72dpi resolution for your submission, but the original image must be at least 300dpi; a JPEG file of up to 10MB in size (any larger and the email won’t come through); and with minimal editing in Photoshop (re-touching and tweaking is permissible). The closing date for entries is midnight on September 30, and anything submitted after that date won’t be eligible for the competition. Email your entries to: calendar@embryoangling.org
